Group chats mix scheduling with everything else, force everyone to cross-reference replies by hand, and give plans no owner and no deadline. Proposals scroll away, answers go stale, and nobody wants to be the one who nags.

Short answer: flip the order. Instead of asking the group when they're free and negotiating, look first, then send one concrete invite at a time you already know works. In HangTime that invite is called a hang: it carries its own chat, and it locks in the moment your group says yes.

You know the thread. "We should all get dinner!" Twelve enthusiastic reactions. "When works?" Four answers spread across three days, two of them contradictory, one of them "I'm flexible" (they are not flexible). Someone proposes Saturday; it scrolls away under a meme. Two weeks later somebody asks whatever happened to dinner.

The group chat isn't bad at conversation. It's bad at convergence. It has no memory, no owner, and no deadline. Every scheduling question you ask there generates N answers that one poor soul has to reconcile by hand.

Step 1: Look before you ask

The back-and-forth exists because nobody can see anyone else's time. Once your group shares availability in HangTime, that entire negotiation disappears: you open the calendar and look, or let Find Time surface the overlap across the whole group, work schedules included.

Step 2: Send a hang, not a question

A hang is a concrete proposal: these people, this time, this thing. Pick your people (the friends you hang with most surface first), choose the time, or flip on All day and just pick the day, add a note, and send. Concrete proposals get answered; open questions get discussed.

Step 3: Let it lock itself in

When you send to a group, you choose how it becomes official:

Anyone can lock it in: the first yes makes it real and puts it on calendars. Everyone else can still join any time before it starts. Perfect for casual "who's in?" plans.
Everyone must accept: it only becomes official when every person says yes. If anyone declines, the hang is called off. Right for the dinner that's pointless without the whole crew.

Either way, nobody has to chase confirmations. The rules do it.

Step 4: Keep the talk where the plan is

Every hang has its own chat, shared by everyone invited: debate the restaurant, drop the address, negotiate the time, all next to the plan instead of buried in the main thread. When the hang is accepted and becomes a calendar event, the chat carries over: one continuous conversation from "wanna hang?" to "on my way." Forgot someone? Open the pending hang and tap Add people.

What about friends who aren't on HangTime yet?

Share the event's invite link into any text or group chat, and they'll see a preview and can join with an account, or download the app first. In person, tap Show QR and let them scan to join on the spot. The group chat still gets to exist; it just stops being your scheduling software.
