Effective date: July 14, 2026
HangTime is a calendar and hangout-planning app built for sharing schedules with friends. This policy describes what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to keep it plain.
HangTime is operated by GRT Tech LLC ("we," "us"), a limited liability company registered in New Jersey, USA. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to contact@the-hangtime.com.
When you sign up: your email address and a password. We use Supabase Auth, which stores your password as a salted hash, we never see the actual password.
Profile data you create: username, display name, optional bio, optional profile photo, your default availability hours, your hang request policy, and your privacy setting (public or private profile).
Calendar and event data you create: events you add (title, time, location if you choose to enter one, privacy setting, people you invite). If you subscribe to an external iCal feed by pasting its URL, we fetch and import the events on that feed when you sync.
Social graph: the people you follow, who follows you, who you've marked as close friends, who you've blocked, hangout requests you've sent or received, and event invitations.
Messages: the contents of messages you send to other HangTime users in event or hangout threads, and the emoji reactions you leave on those messages.
Push notification tokens (mobile only): if you enable notifications, your device's Expo push token. This is a string that lets our servers route a notification to your specific device via Apple Push Notification Service. It contains no personal information on its own.
Diagnostic data: if the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a report through Sentry containing the error details, the operating system, and the app version. We do not attach your IP address or your account identity to these reports. We use this only to diagnose and fix bugs.
To be specific about what HangTime does not access:
We use the data above to:
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or resale. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes.
Other HangTime users see your data subject to the privacy settings you choose. Public events are visible to anyone on the app. Open events are visible to your followers. Closed events are visible to the people you've marked as close friends. Private events are visible only to you and people you explicitly invite. Soft-private profiles show only your username, display name, avatar, and follower counts to non-followers.
Service providers we use to operate HangTime:
These providers process your data only on our behalf, under their own data-protection terms. We do not share your data with anyone else.
We keep your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (in profile settings → Delete account), we cascade-delete your profile, events, follows, hang requests, blocks, and other personal data. Messages you sent in shared threads remain visible to other thread participants but are attributed to "Deleted user" rather than to you, so the thread context isn't broken for them. Push tokens are removed.
Crash reports in Sentry age out per Sentry's retention schedule, typically within 90 days.
You can:
If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with comprehensive data-protection law, you have additional rights including access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Contact us to exercise any of these.
HangTime is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
We use standard practices: TLS for all data in transit, password hashing through Supabase Auth, and row-level security on the database so users can only access data they're authorized to see. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data with care.
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and notify you through the app the next time you sign in. Continued use of HangTime after that constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
